From a visit to the Dorset Steam Fair a number of years ago, admiring shepherd’s huts and showman’s wagons, we had the great idea of having some iron wheels cast at the Bridport Foundry with a view of building our very own Shepherd’s hut. This soon became a labour of love where we spent a number of years, using wood from our farm to build up and out from those wheels we had purchased some years before. With double glazing, a pretty French wood-burner, copper sink and tiled wooden floor taken from a grain dryer, the Shepherd’s Retreat we feel is now complete.

Cosy and snug you can hunker down in the double sized bed or sit out and enjoy the views of the rolling Devon countryside. In the adjoining horsebox with tiled slate floor you will find your bathroom, with modern flush toilet and shower.

The Shepherd’s Retreat is situated on our working farm where you can enjoy walks across the fields and take in views of the Bristol Channel and Wales, or simply stroll down to the picturesque village of Berrynarbor and have a drink at the local pub.
