Open from April to November.
For that romantic getaway, some quality time with your loved one, or just a break from the bustles of life, the Shepherd's Retreat is the place for you.
Set in the orchard of a 200 acre working sheep farm and situated on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Berrynarbor in North Devon, The Shepherd's Retreat is the perfect base to explore the delights of North Devon with its iconic seaside views and all it has to offer, from peaceful walks over Exmoor with breathtaking views over the rugged coastline, to exploring the golden sand and surf found at many of the beaches in the area.
Hand crafted by the owner this spacious Shepherd's hut has many of the comforts of home; fully insulated with double glazing, beautiful French wood burner, fridge, additional heater, double bed, handmade copper sink, hot and cold water, and electricity.
The bathroom is at the rear of the dwelling: a converted horse box with slate floor, includes Belfast sink with hot and cold running water, flush toilet and modern shower.
The accommodation is situated in its own 1 acre orchard overlooking a small pond.
There is plenty of space to sit outside and relax, even cook outside.
We are within walking distance of the South West Coast Path, and some fantastic beaches and coves. Pubs within walking distance, a well-stocked, Community shop and PO just down the hill near the church.
" This Shepherds hut is outstanding, beautifully crafted with excellent facilities with a perfect view to the hills beyond. We had the most amazing stay with a lovely bed with gorgeous bed linen, fresh wild flowers and homemade cake and milk in the fridge. Lovely bathroom in the horse box with soft fluffy towels. The bath is amazing whether in the day to relax or at night under the stars it is an amazing experience with gallons of hot water to give you the most relaxing bath. Richard and Be are the perfect hosts and made you feel very welcome. It was wonderful staying on the farm an experience we will never forget and we will return already looking at dates for 2019 It really is a slice of heaven. Thank you both for such an amazing stay. "
We regret NO Dogs.
Guests are welcome to enjoy our farm, and take in the beautiful views whilst walking across the land. From the top of the hill above the village you can take in the views of the Bristol Channel and the Welsh Coastline, this area is an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) with views up on to Exmoor.
We are a short drive from Croyde, Saunton and Woolacombe beaches (with miles of glorious sand) where you can try your hand at surfing. We are a ten minute walk from the South West Coast Path. We are within walking distance of the local community shop, and a ten minute drive to other nearby picturesque towns and villages.
Beautiful Lundy Island (owned by the Landmark Trust) can be reached by taking the Oldenburg from either Bideford or Ilfracombe.
Ilfracombe hosts a good array of restaurants and pubs, it is also home to the statue of 'Verity' by Damian Hirst. (A must see!)
What a quirky fantastic find, this Shepherd's hut is set in the most stunning scenery and at night you can watch the stars shine because there is no light pollution. Be and Richard have thought of everything with the well thought through design of both the Shepherd's hut and converted horse box. Connection to their Wi-Fi was not a problem either. The location is quiet but there are local amenities within easy walking distance and the beaches and places of interest are a short car drive away. Be and Richard were perfect hosts throughout our stay, ensuring we were settled in on our first night after a very long delayed journey. We will definitely be staying again Thank you both
